The dark web is the part of the web that requires special software, or authorizations to access. The dark web is hidden from search engines and activity is masked allowing cybercriminals to operate undetected. This is where much hacked and stolen data such as credit card numbers and passwords are traded.
Because of widespread password reuse, Account Takeover (ATO) attacks have become an extremely lucrative business for cybercriminals. Even unsophisticated threat actors can compromise a number of your customer or employee-facing accounts with little to no knowledge of traditional hacking techniques.
Stolen credentials and account takeover are problems that are growing at an alarming speed. According to the 2017 Verizon Data Breach Report, 81 percent of hacking-related breaches leveraged either stolen and/weak passwords. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has taken notice, recently setting forth requirements for federal systems to check passwords against exposed credentials and encouraging nongovernmental organizations to follow suit.
How It Works
The Datapath security team will check your domain and e-mail addresses against a database of over 8 billion known breached credentials. If any matches are found, we will alert and assist you to take corrective action. When new breaches are discovered ongoing scans will proactively alert the Datapath security team to alert and assist you to take corrective action.
